DOUBLE BILL - FIRST PART
“The starting point of this dance was my desire to go through the myth of Medusa, the snake-haired “monster” whose gaze petrifies. In the face of the dominant injustice towards this mistreated figure, who was then completely abandoned by society, I wanted to find other faces for Medusa, other bodies, celebrating other powers.
This piece was supposed to be a trio. After the death of my trans sister Teresa Ves Liberta, I am dancing in her absence, full of her. Ur Pupils R Nothing But Ur Pupils is conceived as a gift for Teresa, for all the magic and strength she brought into being.
Teresa Ves Liberta was a 26-year-old Portuguese trans woman, with her sun in Gemini, ascendant in Scorpio, and moon in Libra. As a creator, she used the media of performance, dance, and poetry to investigate seductions, dreams, hypnotic states, and shadows. She messed with the voyeurs, sharpened her nails in the relation and her tongue while gazing.” – Oscar M. Damianaki
